The Mighty Avengers--- I Need an AA Group.
Alright, I had heard rumblings that there was a second Avengers series in the works.
I was very excited, since I really don't care for the New "Not" Avengers. Bad group, bad team, not the right writer for the series. Art has been decent. (My brief moment of niceness.)
I was dreaming of candyland shakes, and faucets of milk chocolate, and heroes fighting the good fight against Kree or Galactus or hundreds of Hulks. Something that the Avengers can really sink their teeth into. Hell, even another JLA crossover.
Please, note the "WAS" above.
And then I find that it is going to be written by the SAME DAMN WRITER!!!!!!!!!!!!
No offense BMB, you just need to put your talents on a different title.
The Mighty Avengers and The New Avengers. Both!!
Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great. Now I get TWO junk titles that I used to have a lotta luv for.
Why Marvel? Why do you do this to me? To us?
I would rather see it as an aspiring writer book. At least I"ll get something different.
However, will I pick it up? You know it will be very hard for me to not pick this up.
Can someone please start an AA group for me? Avengers Anonymous, where we can all meet and hope for something better, talk about better days, and for me, offer repentance for the first 20 issues of the New Avengers that I bought.

I like the blog and it's writers, including you.
But you get zero sympathy from me in this matter, simply on account of you having bought the last 20 issues. You made this possible, you enabled it every step of the way, now live with it.
The Bendis-Avenger drama has long reached the point where I have nothing but contempt for the people spending money on a book they've disliked for the last one and a half years. It's a degree of "unable to learn from past experience" that would put a tapeworm to shame and IMHO you richly deserve all the misery you derive from Marvel, Bendis or your purchase.
I agree. I am shamed, and apparently a sucker. I am a part of the problem, and offer repentance to my sin of the poorly spent dollars. Dreams shattered from continued hoping, and just pouring money into the coffers. I am a bad man. I will learn from my past experiences though, and refrain from MA #1 when it commences. I can do it, I know I can. (Chris, help me please! Hold me back.)
However, I am a Marvel fan, as many of their books are very strong. Cap, DD, MK are just some of the stong sellers coming out. Don't get me wrong, I am also a fan of DC, as some of the new stuff they have going is pretty darn good.
Thank you Markus for the honest, sharp truth. I will do better dagnabbit!! Jake scolded me awhile back to in this very blog.
I'm proud of myself, I was able to pull the trigger on dropping the excrement that is New Avengers after only 10 issues.
I'm already afraid that Mighty Avengers will be starring 2 mutants, an ex-member of the FF, Nick Fury, and Thor. with none of them making any sense, BMB not remembering any hostory or interaction of the characters that may have occurred, etc. Oh, yeah. Sentry will also show up all the time and make me want to kill myself.
Well I've heard that Bendis is actually going to try and address his weaknesses better in this book. Supposedly this means more big explosions and fighting.
That being said, will I buy this? No, no, no, no, no. He may have done some things I liked in the first 20 issues of New Avengers, but not nearly enough, which is why I dropped the book and am in no hurry to renew my acquantince with it, or this new sibling.
Hi, my name is Carla and I own the 40 years of Avengers DVD-ROM.
Which I'll certainly be reading a lot more of since GOD DAMN IT BENDIS! You said and admitted you can't write team books! You still can't! Put the pen down!
I'll join your AA group, even though I dropped Not Avengers after the Daredevi... I mean Ronin debacle. I've taken to reading Marvel Adventures Avengers for my fix.
Two Avengers titles by Bendis? Funting heck...
I predict Bendis will write MA like an Authority rip off, much like that whole Xorn arc.
He beats the Larry Hama years!
Dude, don't think of it so much as dropping a book so much as not picking one up. You don't need the agony of feeling like something you like has been reduced to making you feel like you've wasted a couple of bucks and ten minutes of your life.
Wait for initial reviews to come out on the gagillion comic book blogs there are. If the ones whose taste you share love the book then pick up a copy. It's not like the retailers will order lightly - there will be extra copies around after Wednesday (unlike me missing out on Wasteland). Or you can just wait until your local library gets the trade or hardcover like I will. It's all about the library with me these days!
I know it's hard to fight the desire to own the book. Take your money out, look at it, look at the cover then if you really need to spend the cash, look for another title you haven't tried. It works for me on occasion but I think I've managed to simply stop buying as much. I'm down to about three titles on an average week and am willing to drop stuff in the middle of a story if it isn't working for me. Screw it, I have little time and money in my life I can't waste any more of it.

If Bendis and Marvel know that these are weaknesses, why aren't they addressing them in the main book? What a bizarre attitude: "we know this is broken, but instead of fixing it, we'll just make another one and hope against hope that it doesn't turn out shite too."
Stupid Marvel.
Yeah, I shan't be going near this, but if they get all sneaky and duplicitous and start The Mighty Avengers from #505 (or wherever the original got to before they killed it), I might not be able to resist. Gah.
Brian Bendis has talent?
Ah, Bendis... y'wanna talk about enabling? I suggested Torso, AKA Goldfish and Jinx to all my friends. Next thing I know he's Marvel's can-do-no-wrong-boy and writing two Avengers titles. This wouldn't be too bad but along the way he completely forgot how to write comics.
That said I do consider it a 'guilty pleasure' to read New Avengers. A lousy read that is full of every character talking alike... and they all talk like Bendis characters.
At least Mighty Avengers has nice artwork, a decent team and more action.
I read an interview where BMB acknowledged his failings in New Avengers and is attempting to right that with the Mighty title... but what's wrong with just giving the totle to another writer??
