This Is The Big Time!

So, I read over Randy's excellent reviews and then I noticed....8 comments.

Being a relatively new blog, I thought "Wow! We're getting noticed!"

Sadly, 'twas not the case. Instead, we now know the pain of blogspam.

In the 8 comments we received, we got invitations to blogs about:

  • Credit Repair
  • HIPAA Security Training
  • Glyco Thymoline
  • Healthy Living

So, any other brother bloggers out there know of ways to stop this? Otherwise, Randy and I have a lot of reading to do, or we're overqualified to just be doing comics reviews.

I don't know how to fix it other than by turning comments off, but I have to say that I haven't been hit at all, so there's obviously some way to avoid it.

Do you have a lot of search terms in your Blogger profile? Id' guess that the more terms you have, the more chance you have of being picked up by a spambot. I have about eight or nine, so maybe they haven't spotted me yet.

Although I haven't checked my blog today. Watch it be full of "Hey! I love your blog! Why not check out my Soiled Underpants Enthusiast blog!" now...

What may also help is restricting comments to Blogger users only although:
(A) there's no guarantee that'll work and
(B) I don't have that restriction in effect and I'm clean (so far).

WOW!!! Glyco Thymoline. I so can't wait to hit that blog. It sounds fun and exciting. That is the stuff they put in dynamite, right?

Oh, its not? Its for mouthwash? Are they trying to tell me something?

You can change it so that a poster has to retype a word that they see in a box below the publish button.

That is a bit annoying, though.

So I think you would be well advised to just get haloscan comments.

I keep meaning to do it myself.
